Brass Cu Zn 15 also called Similor

CUZN15 brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, also known as C23000. As its name indicates, it is composed of 85% copper and 15% zinc. This alloy has a golden colour due to its composition and is also called Similor. CuZn15 is resistant and very ductile when cold, therefore suitable for all deformation work (bending, stamping and other cold forming). It is one of the most corrosion-resistant brass types. It is also very easily polished, nickel-plated or chrome-plated.

Applications and properties of C23000

C23000 brass has excellent cold and hot forming properties and is ideal for striking, beating or stamping. Thanks to its 15% zinc content, C23000 has very good resistance to corrosion cracking. It also has excellent mechanical strength (higher than pure copper) and low conductivity. It has good welding and brazing properties.
 
It is mainly used in the field of jewellery and watches, but also in the electronics and plumbing industries. Thanks to its properties, it is also renowned as an outdoor metal and has an important place in modern architecture.
